We rated the largest internet providers in the U.S. for 2025. Each provider was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on over a dozen factors, including speed, cost, availability, fees, customer satisfaction, connection type and more. We also used data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to compare the average speed offered by internet companies in the U.S. to set a baseline for what is considered a good internet speed. Additionally, we analyzed data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to understand how each internet service provider (ISP) fares in customer service and perceived value.
The first step to selecting home Wi-Fi from a Houston internet provider is to find out which ISPs are available near you. Then, consider the following features to determine the best internet provider for you:
The best internet providers Houston offers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Xfinity. Discover why these top-rated Houston internet providers are good choices for Wi-Fi.
Most widely available fast fiber internet in Houston.
Ideal for gaming, heavy streaming and video-conferencing.
No extra fees for equipment.

In Houston, fiber internet from AT&T is available in over half the region. Popular AT&T internet deals in Houston include speeds up to 500 Mbps for $65/mo. (Internet 500) or the 1 Gig Internet for $80/mo. (a better value at $0.80 per Mbps for 1,000 Mbps).* AT&T fiber services have symmetrical upload and download speeds, a perk you won’t find with internet technology types such as satellite, cable or fixed wireless internet. Faster upload speeds are helpful if you regularly upload large files, email attachments, photos or videos.
You won’t find a lot of hidden fees with AT&T; there are no equipment fees, contracts, data limits or early termination fees (ETFs). Professional installation is a one-time charge of $99, though AT&T may waive this fee during promotions. Plus, AT&T will pay for your ETFs when you switch from another provider.
Overall score: 4 out of 5.

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet offers two internet plans and download speeds of up to 415 Mbps, starting at $50/mo., but you can bundle with a T-mobile phone plan and opt in to autopay for a $15 cheaper rate. The only drawback of T-Mobile internet in Houston is that top speeds are not as fast as other ISPs, and T-Mobile’s 5G network may slow down when more people are online.
