Multi-gig speeds are best for homes with 20+ connected devices or numerous people online simultaneously. Larger homes with more square footage can also benefit from multi-gig internet. While multi-gig internet isn’t cheap, several internet service providers (ISPs) offer reasonable prices. Multi-gig plans start around $100/mo. for 2 GB and can cost as much as $300 or more for speeds of up to 10 GB.
It is becoming more common for providers to carry gig-speed internet or faster. Any internet plan with a download speed of 2,000 Mbps (2 GB) or more is considered multi-gig internet. While most multi-gig plans are from fiber internet providers, some providers with super-fast speeds use a hybrid connection of cable internet and fiber optics, such as Xfinity and Optimum.
The best multi-gig internet plans have fair pricing, long price guarantees and few fees. These are the top picks for the best multi-gig internet deals.
Some of the best internet providers with the widest coverage areas, such as AT&T, Frontier and Xfinity, have plans up to 5 or 6 GB (5,000–6,000 Mbps). Other large internet providers with speeds up to 8 GB (8,000 Mbps) include Google Fiber, Optimum and Kinetic by Windstream, while the fastest residential speeds currently reach 10 GB (10,000 Mbps). Regional providers like Metronet, Buckeye Broadband and Sonic are also capable of multi-gig speeds.
The following table lists price, speed and U.S. availability of top multi-gig internet providers.

We rated the largest internet providers in the U.S. for 2025. Each provider was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on over a dozen factors, including speed, cost, availability, fees, customer satisfaction, connection type and more. We also used data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to compare the average speed offered by internet companies in the U.S. to set a baseline for what is considered a good internet speed. Additionally, we analyzed data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to understand how each internet service provider (ISP) fares in customer service and perceived value.
Gig-speed internet plans from AT&T, Frontier, Google Fiber and Xfinity are among the most widely available. These ISPs have gig internet and multi-gig plans that reach the broadest coverage of homes, which contributed to their earning spot on our top multi-gig plans list. Although it is a regional provider, Sonic Internet is among the best multi-gig providers since it offers the fastest 10 GB speeds and earns excellent customer satisfaction reviews.

Multi-gig internet is best for homes with numerous Wi-Fi devices. Typically, home Wi-Fi with up to 10-gig internet speed isn’t necessary for most households. Still, ultra-connected homes are becoming more common as everyday appliances become smart devices. With Wi-Fi now needed for security systems, refrigerators, watches and more, the number of connected devices continues to grow, inciting a need for more speed and bandwidth.
Multi-gig internet is also best for gaming or streaming, two activities that don’t perform well on slow internet speeds. If gig-speed internet is no longer keeping up with your internet needs, you can try out 2-gig internet from over a dozen providers that now offer multi-gig speeds.
If you need faster internet, upgrading your internet speed isn’t the only solution. You can try these methods to fix slow internet. You can also run a speed test at various times of day to determine if your ISP is throttling your internet.
Multi-gig plans are worth it in certain instances, like in households with heavy gaming or streaming. However, average households don’t usually need these speeds, and getting a faster internet connection can often mean overpaying on your monthly internet bill. With the average cost of internet running between $40 and $80/mo., signing up for a multi-gig internet plan probably won’t save you money on internet. Carefully consider your internet needs, devices and online activities before getting a multi-gig internet plan.
