Methodology
We rated the largest internet providers in the U.S. for 2024. Each provider was rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on over a dozen factors, including speed, cost, availability, fees, customer satisfaction, connection type and more. We also used data from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to compare the average speed offered by internet companies in the U.S. to set a baseline for what is considered a good internet speed. Additionally, we analyzed data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to understand how each internet service provider (ISP) fares in customer service and perceived value.
How to choose a provider in Orlando
With so many internet options in Orlando, how do you choose the right one for you? We recommend starting with the following three factors:
- Opportunities to save: Don’t focus solely on the sticker price when comparing internet plans. Many Orlando internet providers offer ways to save by bundling with other services or adding plan perks like free streaming subscriptions. Consider all the options before you decide.
- The real costs: It’s also important to pay attention to more than just the sticker price. Also read the fine print on any offer. There may be hidden equipment costs, installation charges or early termination fees. Likewise, introductory pricing may only last a few months to a year before spiking significantly.
- Your home internet habits: Of course, speed is a top concern with any internet service, especially given today’s high bandwidth demands. However, before you opt for the fastest plan, consider your typical usage. You may not need gigabit internet unless you’re regularly streaming 4K content on multiple devices or doing extensive online gaming.
Orlando internet provider reviews
AT&T – Best fiber internet
AT&T is a popular choice for fiber internet. With synchronous upload/download speeds of up to 5 GB, reliable connections, and strong customer service scores, AT&T regularly ranks among our top picks for high-speed internet providers in the U.S. Equipment pricing is built in, and you won’t have to sign a contract or worry about data caps on your fiber plans. Watch out for installation fees, though.
Overall score: 4.1 out of 5.

Spectrum – Best cable internet
Spectrum uses fiber lines to enhance its cable service throughout the U.S., making it one of the more reliable options for cable internet. With gigabit connection speeds, contract-free plans and attractive bundle deals, Spectrum is often a top choice for users who don’t have access to fiber. Prices can increase significantly after 12 to 24 months, however, and Spectrum’s customer service earns below-average marks.
Overall score: 4 out of 5.

Xfinity – Cheapest internet options
As another cable internet provider, Xfinity competes directly with Spectrum in the Orlando market. Although Spectrum is our top overall choice for cable, Xfinity wins out on pricing, especially for lower-speed plans. However, keep in mind that Xfinity will tack on equipment and installation fees that beef up the monthly cost, and you may pay an early termination fee if you cancel your contract before it ends.
Overall score: 3.9 out of 5.

Viasat – Best satellite internet
Some of the fastest internet providers may not be available to residents on the outskirts of Orlando. However, satellite providers like Viasat and EarthLink offer plans in most areas of the U.S., with connection speeds of up to 150 Mbps in some cases. You’ll have to install a satellite dish on your property. Also, be sure to read the fine print for price increases after the first three months.
Overall score: 2.1 out of 5.

T-Mobile Home Internet – Best 5G internet
T-Mobile has the largest 5G network in the U.S., quickly reaching more and more homes in Orlando and other markets. Its fixed wireless plans can offer download speeds of up to 245 Mbps, but that speed varies significantly based on network congestion. T-Mobile cellular customers can get up to $20 off their monthly price, but there is a one-time setup fee of $35.
Overall score: 4.1 out of 5.

Orlando internet technology
Internet performance depends heavily on the type of connection you have. Internet service providers in Orlando offer all of the following options, each with its pros and cons:
- Fiber internet: When it comes to speed and reliability, fiber-optic internet is the technology to beat. With zero-lag connectivity and connection speeds of 5 GB or more, this technology type should be your go-to for heavy streaming, gaming and multi-device connections. However, it might not be available in your area.
- Cable: You’re more likely to be able to get cable service than fiber in many areas, and cable can still offer extremely fast download speeds. However, upload speeds are much slower, and cable doesn’t handle a lot of connected devices as well as fiber.
- Fixed wireless: 5G internet from fixed wireless providers has been growing rapidly; some providers even offer gigabit download speeds. Cell towers can reach places that don’t yet have cable or fiber networks, but connection reliability can be spotty during high-demand periods.
- Satellite: Satellite has a much wider reach than other connection types, and providers offer service even in remote areas of the U.S. Download speeds can’t compare to cable or fiber, but it may be your only option if you live far outside Orlando.
- DSL: Phone-line-based DSL connections are becoming less common as more providers convert to fiber lines. However, many providers still rely on DSL in some rural areas (although it is not listed as DSL). Connection speeds are comparable to satellite.
